Usually a painting is copied in the am session with an art history lesson, learning about the life, palette and painting style of the artist. Either a photograph of a landscape or a still life will be painted in the style of the artist during the afternoon session, repeating what was learned in the am. DATE: February 23rd CLASS SIZE: 8 LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced FACILITY; large room with 8 six foot tables, table easels and individual lights, restroom, refrigerator, coffee pot and microwave. *** if 16 express an interest, I will schedule the same workshop on a Saturday in March. Indicate if you prefer Saturdays. 17 SPRINGS ARTS FESTIVAL is a revival of an arts
festival held in Millbrook, Alabama, back in the 1970s. This festival was a
wonderful annual arts event and the Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce
and Grandview Family YMCA are bringing this event back to life on Saturday,
April 4, 2009, from 9am to 5pm. The festival will be held at the beautiful
rolling hills of Camp Grandview, with its picturesque hiking trails, natural
springs, wildflower meadows and lake activities. FOUNTAIN CITY ARTS FESTIVAL: Application Deadline: March 2, 2009. Check online for more information: http://www.prattville.com/Default.asp?ID=523 COOL WEBSITE: Understanding Art History (By Kim Komando)Most of us could probably name a painting or sculpture that we like. Maybe we're drawn in by the colors or the form. But to truly appreciate a work, you need to understand its context. It is part of a dialogue with other works of art. It also has its place in human history as a whole. You could head down to your local community college. It likely has art history classes. Or, you could study art on your own. To do that, you'll need reliable information.
That's just what
you'll find at
www.smarthistory.org.
On its home page,
you'll see an art history time line. Click on a work to learn more about it. There are interesting videos on a wide selection of works. Other works have written explanations. Of course, there are other ways to explore. You can search by artist, style or theme. Anyone who likes art will appreciate this site! www.smarthistory.org Wetumpka Area Chamber of Commerce Events: Click http://www.wetumpkachamber.com/ Look under events and you will find some things that will interest you!
