“SPARKING THE ARTS” Youth Art Show
At Christmas on the Coosa, December 12, 2009
The Elmore County Art Guild extends an invitation to Elmore County students and students who take art in Elmore County to participate in an art competition displayed in the Wetumpka Depot Theater during their play “The Christmas Bus”. The dates for the performances are Nov. 30th through Dec. 4th.
THREE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR LESSONS ONLY TO BE AWARDED IN EACH CATEGORY!
First Place: $200, Second Place: $100, Third Place: $50
Category 1: Kindergarten through second grade
Category 2: third through sixth grade
Category 3: seventh through ninth grade
Category 4: tenth through twelfth grade
The scholarships can be redeemed at Jasmine Hill Art Gallery in Wetumpka, Barbara Simpson’s studio in Millbrook, and Hope Brannon’s Studio in Wetumpka for lessons only. Winners will be displayed at the Theater during Christmas on the Coosa, and a special presentation of awards will be made to the winners on Saturday, December 12 at 10:00 a.m. Entry forms can be picked up at the Wetumpka Library, Jasmine Hill Art Gallery, Barbara Simpson’s Studio, and Hope Brannon’s Studio.
RULES:
Entries will be received at the Wetumpka Depot Theater on Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00)
1. Artist must be a student in grades k-12
2. Artist will be limited to one entry and entry form with entry fee of $5.00 must accompany artwork.
3. Artwork may be of any medium on a flat surface suitable for hanging.
4. 2-dimensional artwork must be dry, framed or mated, and have wire for hanging. No saw tooth hangers
or other type hangers will be accepted. Artwork on gallery-wrapped canvases with wire for
hanging will be accepted.
5. Framed artwork may not measure larger than 60” by 60”. Oversized work will not be accepted.
6. All artwork must be original and have been done entirely by the artist within the last year.
7. The Art Guild reserves the right to refuse entries.
8. Entries will be exhibited according to available exhibition space.
9. Reasonable care will be used at all times in handling entries, but entries will not be insured against damage or theft. Neither the Elmore County Art Guild nor the Wetumpka Depot Theater will be responsible for any loss or damages whatsoever.
10. The judge’s decisions are final in each category.
11. All winning artwork and artists must be available for the awards ceremony.
